Our journey began with a passion for computer science and a specialization in compiler theory.  A background in developing Ada and C++ compilers for embedded systems led to a quest to simplify application development and more specifically those most complex, safety-critical, real-time systems-of-systems.

A groundbreaking project to develop the world's first autonomous drilling system, alongside research collaboration with one of Draper Labs esteemed system architects, revealed the transformative potential of the Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard in distributed computing.

Architectural expertise, experience, and understanding, beginning with upstream Oil & Gas (O&G) applications, led to partnering with a principal premier DDS vendor. Spearheading strategic collaborations with industry giants like Siemens Digital Industries, aerospace and defense contractors, and med-tech gave firsthand insights into the challenges faced by end-users in developing distributed systems. 

 

Developing these highly-distributed real-time scalable systems, encompassing fault tolerance, security, and future-proofing, underscored the paramount importance of architecture planning and shaped the direction of FederatedDesigns.
